Accelerated Bachelor's/Master's Degree Program

Clark University full-time day undergraduates ONLY may combine their bachelor's degree with either the M.S.P.C. (Master of Science in Public Communication) or M.P.A. (Master's in Public Administration) degree at an accelerated pace by beginning the graduate degree program during their senior year and finishing it within a fifth year of study. Those who qualify may do this tuition-free.

Application

By no later than April 1 of their junior year, students must complete Part 1 of the Application  to the Accelerated Degree Program. After downloading and completing the form, students should make an appointment to meet with the MPA or MSPC Program Advisor (smillette@clarku.edu for MPA, mhess@clarku.edu for MSPC). Students must bring to the meeting: A) a one page person essay on their career goals and how the degree program will help them reach these goals, and B) the completed Part I Application. The students then turns signed Part I into the Academic Affairs office, along with an unofficial transcript.

Part 2 of the Application  must be completed and submitted to Julie Parent in the COPACE Office by October 15.

Restrictions and Additional Requirements

Those undergraduates who enter Clark University in Fall 2011 and complete their undergraduate degree in 2015, there will be two prerequisites for those students pursuing the accelerated MPA and MSPC degree. For those undergraduates who entered Clark prior to 2011, we recommend that they take these two classes in order to create more electives during their fifth year. These courses will be offered through the Graduate School of Management or through COPACE.

  • Management 101 Principles of Accounting
  • Management 104 Introduction to MIS
  • In addition to the regular accelerated program requirements, applicants will also be required to register for the Internship and the Internship Seminar during one of their beginning semesters. Details are to be worked out with the Graduate Programs staff.

Up to four courses for both graduate and undergraduate credit may be taken during the senior year. Students expecting the fifth year to be tuition-free must pay careful attention to University restrictions. After graduation, students may take no more than ten courses tuition-free. Therefore, it is advisable to take at least two courses during the senior year in order to complete the graduate degree tuition-free.
