Bickman Fitness Center
The Bickman Fitness Center is the first of three recommended facility construction phases included in the Athletic Facilities Committee Report of October 1993. The University positively responded to an increasing interest in fitness. In April 1994, a Fitness Center Committee was appointed to study potential usage and identify equipment priorities. The Board of Trustees gave final approval to the project in March 1995.
On October 5, 1995, the Fitness Center opened and on April 4, 1997 it was officially dedicated. It was dedicated as the Bickman Fitness Center in honor of James (Class of 1939) and Ada Bickman.
The Bickman Fitness Center is a climate-controlled 4,300 square-foot facility integrated within the George F. Kneller Athletic Center. The two-level building consists of a cardiovascular area on the upper level and a strength/free weight area on the lower level; The Center is handicapped accessible with entrance ramps and a lift to reach the lower level.
