BS/MSPC Communications
General Distribution
Math and Science:
FOUR (4) full courses with at least one in Math and one in Science
• Mathematics: Requirement can be met by taking courses with a MATH prefix.
• Science: Options include any course with a SCIS prefix. Subject options include: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Geography (physical)Environmental Studies English/Verbal Expression:
TWO (2) writing courses
• Introduction to Composition • Intermediate Composition (this course must be taken at Clark) any course with a SCIS prefix. Subject options include: • Astronomy • Biology • Chemistry • Geography (physical) • Environmental Studies Social Sciences:
Six (6) full courses are required which reflect at least three disciplines. The course options include:
• Anthropology • Communications (some courses) • Criminal Justice • Economics • Geography (cultural) • Government • History • Interdisciplinary (some courses) • International Studies (some courses) • Psychology • Sociology • Women's Studies (some courses) Humanities:
FIVE (5) full courses are required which reflect at least three disciplines.
Required Courses: • A Survey Course In Literature • Professional Ethics Additional Subject Options: • Classics • Languages • Communications (some) • Literature • English • Music • History • Philosophy • Humanities • Speech and Public Speaking • Interdisciplinary (some) • Theater • International Studies • Visual and Performing Arts • Language Arts • Women's Studies The Major Field:
EIGHT (8) full courses must be completed for
a letter grade (half must be 200 level). A prerequisite for the
following courses is Introduction to Composition.
Required Courses: • Writing for Professional Communications • Introduction to Communications Studies/Theory • Desktop Publishing or Graphic Design • One Advanced Theory Course • Organizational Communication (MSPC) • Advanced Professional Communications (MSPC) • Approved Core Course (MSPC) Optional Course:
• One optional course must be taken.
Perspectives: ONE (1) full course must be taken at Clark during
the Junior or Senior year. A perspectives course is any course
which is international in its focus. Electives*:
SIX (6) or more full courses must be completed,
with at least one elective in computer/information science.
Students in the Integrated Undergraduate/Graduate program may take any
COPACE course. Students choose electives from the following areas:
